The ROC*ROI is a measure of risk currently in use throughout the Department of Corrections, which is a combination of two measures: ROC equals Risk of Re-Conviction, while ROI equals the Risk of Imprisonment, and the asterisk (*) means 'multiplied by.'

The New Zealand Department of Corrections (NZDC) uses the ROC*ROI as a risk assessment tool for offenders, helping it determine the level of risk each individual poses and informs how resources are allocated for rehabilitation and other services.

Māori Algorithmic Sovereignty

Māori Algorithmic Sovereignty (MASov) is the idea that algorithmic systems that use Māori data — or are applied to Māori populations or environments that Māori have rights or interests in — should be subject to Māori rules, laws, and governance.
